SOME OF THE FILMS I REMEMBER WATCHING FROM MARCH TO NOVEMBER SPEEDRUN

i kinda forgot i made this page

THE HOLDOVERS: LOVED IT!!! i want to watch it close to christmas again. i really liked how it felt like a movie from a previous era. the characters felt very realized and it just felt like a FILM you know. like that is a damn movie. heard dominic sessa is going to be in now you see me 3 (yes they're making a third movie i was surprised too) so i hope that's good!

DUNES: didn't end up watching them in theaters which i recognise as a fault but, yeah. wow. love to see epic sci-fi worlds on the big screen. so fucking beautiful

MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO: this was on the watch list for a long while. i'm glad i got around to it. there's so much to say yet i have no words. from a message i sent to friends: one of those movies that really doesn't hold your hand, doesn't have conclusions or pretty endings and just leaves you with emptiness.

DINNER IN AMERICA: yeah okay!! that was a ride. surprisingly romantic!

INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE

2022- | series, 2 seasons | usa

i'm so very obsessed i cannot lie. the most fascinating piece of television i've seen in a long while. the narrative, the characters, the writing, god. fuck. it's so fucking good. there's so much you can delve into. gay vampire telenovela yes, but also so so much more.

THE MAZE RUNNER/THE SCORCH TRIALS/THE DEATH CURE

2014/2015/2018 | film trilogy | usa

look. course work procrastination can take you to strange places. like feeling nostalgic for mediocre teen dystopians. the first one is the best for sure, but i liked the characters enough to watch the rest lol (thomas brodie-sangster, we meet again). the trilogy has the curse of setting up an interesting world with mysteries you want answers to but then not managing to give any of it a satisfying pay off... no wonder i remembered very little even though i watched them in the theaters when they came out. they were entertaining nevertheless!

SOCIETY OF THE SNOW

2023 | film | spain/usa

i don't feel comfortable rating a film based on a real life tragedy like this so i'm not going to, but it's a beautifully made, horrifying viewing experience.

THE ARTFUL DODGER

2023 | series, 8 episodes | australia

is it historically accurate in any way? no! but watching the artful dodger was just a damn blast, ok. i'm not a romance guy generally but they got me! they truly did! and oh how i love characters being insane about science (in this case, medical science. surgery.) white shirts with flowy long sleeves soaked in blood is a fashion statement i can get behind. all i'm saying is that it's fucked if it isn't continued.

MIDNIGHT MASS

2021 | series, 7 episodes | usa

i'm not even sure what to say. that was an experience. i'm not a fan of horror as a rule, but i managed through it and it was worth it, it was so worth it. father paul the character that you are...

STORMSKÄRS MAJA

2024 | film | finland

a very beautiful film. i like a good story that closely follows a character throughout a long span of their life, where you can see them grow and change with experiences and environments. gorgeous cinematography (all done on location, in the archipelago of åland, as i understand!) so you can really get a sense of the nature and its power.
